Attendees of the 2026 Jackson Hole Birding Festival enjoyed a spectacular array of bird species across the region's diverse habitats — from wetlands and rivers to alpine forests and sagebrush flats. On the water, birders spotted Trumpeter Swans, Common and Barrow's Goldeneyes, Redheads, Teal, and Ruddy Ducks, and elegant American White Pelicans gliding overhead. Marshes and shorelines hosted Long-billed Curlews, Sora, and the occasional White-faced Ibis.

Raptors were a highlight, with frequent sightings of Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Swainson's Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, and Prairie Falcons sitting on refuge posts and soaring above open country. Forests and meadows rang with the calls of Mountain Chickadees, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Red-naped Sapsuckers, Western Warbling Vireos, and vibrant Western Tanagers.

Sagebrush and open fields offered glimpses of the Clark’s Nutcracker, Lazuli Buntings, Vesper and Savannah Sparrows, and Horned Larks, while flycatchers, swallows, and hummingbirds danced through the air. Mixed flocks brought together species like Evening Grosbeaks, Pine Siskins, and Cassin's Finches.

Altogether, the festival recorded 119 species over three remarkable days — a vibrant testament to Jackson Hole's rich birdlife and stunning natural landscapes. Plus, birders were treated to sightings of bears, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, bison, moose, and more!
